Are you looking for some "aha" moments? Then take a look behind the scenes of Kaiserslautern's research landscape on Friday, 9 May 2025 during the "Nacht, die Wissen schafft".

After a break of several years, this popular science event is back and will bring the campus and laboratories to life. From 6pm, universities, research institutes and innovative companies in Kaiserslautern will open their doors to anyone who wants to experience science at first hand. The event is organised by the Science and Innovation Alliance Kaiserslautern e.V. (SIAK), the City of Kaiserslautern and numerous partners from science and industry.

Under the motto "Knowledge creates the future", the night will impressively demonstrate how closely our everyday lives are linked to current research - and how much potential new ideas hold. From sustainability to digitalisation and artificial intelligence, the topics are as diverse as they are topical.

What can visitors expect?

The event kicks off at 6pm with a joint opening ceremony at 42kaiserslautern. From there, a free shuttle bus will take guests to the other venues, including

  • Hochschule Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences
  • RPTU University Kaiserslautern-Landau
  • Business + Innovation Center Kaiserslautern
  • German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI)
  • Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering IESE and Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM
  • Institut für Oberflächen- und Schichttechnik (IFOS)
  • Max Planck Institute for Software Systems

There will be plenty to discover on site: from fascinating experiments and interactive exhibitions to lectures and hands-on activities. Researchers will explain their work, provide insights into current projects and answer questions - in a clear, personal and accessible way.

Closing Highlight

The evening will end at 23:00 with a joint finale on the RPTU campus. Exactly what is planned remains a secret for now - but this much can be revealed: it will be an atmospheric end to an inspiring night full of knowledge, exchange and enthusiasm.
